Marseille – PSG – Review for 24.10.2021

Marseille are moving well in the league since the start of the season. Jorge Sampaoli’s team made some mistakes, but they are still third in the standings with 17 points won – just one point behind the 2nd Lens. PSG are comfortably leading the Ligue 1 standings with 27 points which puts them 9 points ahead of the second. 9 wins and 1 loss – that’s PSG’s spectacular record in the league so far. It seems that they are motivated to get back on the throne in France after surprisingly losing the title to Lille last season. The head coach Mauricio Pochettino is perfectly aware that nobody will forgive him if he lose the gold medals again.

During the week PSG celebrated another win in the Champions League as well. The Parisians faced RB Leipzig at home and it was difficult, but they managed to achieve a 3-2 win against the Germans. Lionel Messi inspired the team with a brace while Kylian Mbappe scored one as well. You can say PSG didn’t impress that much with their overall performance, but they did what was the most important thing – winning the game.

It seems that Leo Messi is finally starting to settle in the team. The Argentine super star played a lot with the ball and he scored two goals, of course – he could have scored a hat-trick as well, but he left Kylian Mbappe take a penalty. The big absentee in this game was Neymar – the Brazilian star is injured again and most likely he will miss the trip to Marseille as well.
